Phobjikha valley, Wangdue Phodrang · BNC-EC

The black-necked cranes winter in Phobjikha, and the centre sits at the edge of the marsh they come back to. Settle the entry fee before you get there.

  • Scan the entrance poster and the right centre opens itself
  • Pay from any Bhutanese bank account, or your banking app
  • A QR e-ticket the desk scans — nothing to print
  • Entry fees fund conservation work at the centres

How it works

Three steps, and you are through the gate

The whole thing is meant to be done standing at the entrance on a phone with one bar of signal.

  1. 01

    Choose your centre

Scan the poster at the entrance, or pick a centre from the list below. Nothing to install, no account to make.

  2. 02

    Enter your visit

Your visitor category and how many are with you. The entry fee is worked out from the current fee table as you type.

  3. 03

    Pay, then check in

Confirm with your bank and the QR e-ticket appears on screen. Show it at the desk, they scan it, and you are in.

Why book ahead

Built for the gate, not the office

The counter still works exactly as it always has. This is for everyone who would rather not stand in front of it.

  • Less time at the desk

The ticket is issued before you arrive, so checking in is a scan of your QR rather than a form, a fee and change at the counter.

  • The fee, worked out for you

Rates differ by visitor category. Enter your party and the total is calculated from the fee table the centre is running today.

  • Paid through your own bank

Payment goes through the domestic gateway, confirmed by the one-time password your bank sends. Only the last four digits of your account are kept.

  • A ticket that stays put

Add your email and the ticket is sent to you. The link keeps working, so you can reopen the QR or your receipt at any time.

Where the money goes

Every entry fee stays with the work it pays for

RSPN has worked on Bhutan's black-necked cranes and white-bellied herons for decades — habitat surveys, community programmes, and the education centres visitors walk into. The fee you pay at the gate goes back into that work.

  • Watching the birds

Season counts, nest monitoring and the tracking work that shows where the flock goes.

  • Working with the valley

Programmes run with the farmers and villages who share the wetland year round.

  • Keeping the centres open

The exhibits, hides and trails that make a visit worth the trip.

Questions

Before you book

Do I need an account?

No. Open the centre's page, fill in your visit, and pay. Accounts are only for RSPN staff running the counter.

How do I pay?

Two ways, both domestic. Enter your bank account number and confirm with the one-time password your bank sends you, or open the payment QR in your own banking app and scan it — the page updates itself once the payment clears.

Can I book for a group?

Yes. Pick the visitor category and enter how many people are with you. One ticket covers the party, and the desk scans it once.

Where is my ticket after I pay?

It appears on screen straight away, and it is emailed to you if you gave an email address. The link stays live, so you can reopen it on the way to the gate.

What if the payment fails?

Nothing is issued until payment clears, so you can start again with the other payment method — or buy your ticket at the counter as usual.

What do entry fees pay for?

They support the conservation and education work RSPN carries out at the centres and in the valleys around them.

Sort the ticket now, scan it at the gate

It takes a few taps, and the desk has nothing left to work out — just your code to scan. If you would rather pay at the counter, it is still open.
